Faiths Are Still In:
Taking Action on Climate

U.S. faith communities are committed to addressing climate change. They are urging the Trump  Administration to reverse its decision and uphold U.S. commitments to the Paris Agreement and to remain in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Across the US, Faiths are Still In and pledge to support the goals of the Paris Agreement, continue concrete steps to fulfill them and highlight the importance of international cooperation through the UNFCCC.

We've been here before ... under the first Trump Administration, hundreds of faith organizations signed the We Are Still In declaration, joining states, cities, counties, businesses and colleges/universities demonstrating their support to help the U.S. achieve its promised greenhouse gas emission reductions under the Paris Agreement.

Today, as we face another withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and the UNFCCC altogether, this moment points to the abdication of our nation's moral responsibility and the necessity for faith communities to stand: We believe the UNFCCC is a critical international negotiation platform to address climate change and that the Paris Agreement is an important international mechanism to promote environmental stewardship, equity and shared responsibility. In line with our conscience and teachings, we will continue to pursue Paris-aligned emissions reductions and adaptation measures in our own communities – because that is what our faiths require of us.
