U.S. faith communities urge the Trump Administration to reverse its decision and uphold U.S. commitments to the Paris Agreement. We affirm that Faiths are Still In and pledge to support the goals of the Paris Agreement and continue concrete steps to fulfill them.
We've been here before ... under the first Trump Administration, hundreds of faith organizations signed the We Are Still In declaration, joining states, cities, counties, businesses and colleges/universities demonstrating their support to help the U.S. achieve its promised greenhouse gas emission reductions under the Paris Agreement.
Today, as we face another withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and an abdication of our nation's moral responsibility by the second Trump Administration, we are doubling down and making it clear where we as faith communities stand: We believe the Paris Agreement is an important international mechanism to promote environmental stewardship, equity and shared responsibility. In line with our conscience and teachings, we will continue to pursue Paris-aligned emissions reductions and adaptation measures in our own communities – because that is what our faiths require of us.
